Job Title: Freelance Assistant Designer, Men's Woven Sport & Dress Shirts
Location: New York
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: TBD
Overview: To Assist in the design of desirable, innovative and quality sport shirts and dress shirts that meet the Company's aesthetic and distinguish the specific niches from its competitors.
Design and execute concept models in partnership with the Designer.
Participate in design meetings and manage updates and line lists post meetings.
Create presentation boards and research boards for meetings with senior design team.
Market research – competitive shopping, internet research, new trends.
CADS - line sheets, stats, flat sketches, artwork/layouts, trims
Communicate and collaborate with cross functional partners.
Partner w/Print Team and develop any conceptual prints & CAD for presentation.
Daily communication with Product Development.
Close collaboration w/merchandising partners for design, color, cost, market adoption and post market adds/drops.
Close partnership w/PD making sure all Tech Packs are handed off, proof read & accurate.
Attend fittings to help maintain design aesthetic and fit.
Work with manager to adhere to corporate calendar timing.
Working proactively and organizing priorities daily to have smooth workflow
Translate sketches and ideas into computer technical sketches.
Create drawn package for factories to work from, also 3D mock ups.
Work with Product Development teams who are responsible for communicating with overseas sourcing offices and factories
Participate in fittings, proto revisions and all relevant updates required.
Communicate with senior design team, new found inspiration, product direction and industry trends for each designed product.
Partner across functional depts., including merchandising, production, sourcing and internal teams.
Skills & Knowledge:
Must have a degree in Fashion Design or a related subject.
1 year industry experience in Design.
Clear communication, self-motivation and initiative.
Knowledge and interest in historical & vintage garments is essential.
Strong creative suite knowledge- Illustrator & Photoshop.
Knowledge and high attention of garment construction and detail
Knowledge of Product Development, Merchandising and Product Management
Ability to thrive and stay well-organized in a fast-paced environment
Works with a sense of urgency
Strong Presentation Skills
