This valued client is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Houston area team!** The **Lab Technician** is responsible for conducting routine testing on inbound raw materials and outbound products. They will be responsible for preparing CofA s for customers and assisting with troubleshooting out of spec products. Work schedule for the Lab Technician is Monday-Friday (some Saturdays), 6am-2pm. Pay range, depending on experience, is $20-23 per hour. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:** * Perform quality control tests required on incoming raw materials and finished goods, including adjusting batches as required for internal and external customers * Perform lab equipment calibrations in a timely manner and Keep records * Test Hazardous wastes and returned goods as requested by upper management * Perform routine water quality tests as needed. * Collect outfall samples as needed in accordance with State regulation. * Analyze and keep record of carbon bed according to air permit. * Maintain appropriate documentation (records and lab notebooks) in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures * Maintain good housekeeping in the laboratory, retained sample room and surrounding areas * Dispose of and/or retain samples on a regular basis following required regulations * Prepare Certificates of Analysis as required for internal and external customers * Prepare standard reagent solutions as required by the test methods * Create, formulate, and setup new products/batch formulas as needed. * Observe, follow and enforce all company Policies and Procedures * Attend all required training when scheduled unless absent from work * Other duties may be assigned by management depending on operational demands **Qualifications:** * Possess good organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet time-sensitive deadlines with minimal supervision. * Possess excellent written and oral communication skills * Possess proficient skill level of Microsoft Office * Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, including upper management * Ability to operate the following laboratory equipment: Balances, Gas Chromatograph, Autotitrator, ICP, Refractometer, Density meter, Karl-Fisher moisture tester, Infrared Spectrophotometer, laboratory mixers, Aqua Color tester (Orbeco-Hellige), pH meter (Accumet Basic), Burettes, Pipets and other glassware to perform wet chemistry analyses, portable data logging spectrophotometer. * We will train the incumbent as needed, but the right candidate will have some working knowledge of the above test methods and equipment. * Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference * Read and interpret job related documents and regulatory material daily * Willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as needed **Requirements:** * Associates Degree in Chemistry (or closely related field) or 3+ years of working experience in a lab environment. * Chemical distribution experience a plus * Knowledge of wet chemistry test methods * Employment is contingent upon completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening * Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
