Business Development Director, Life Sciences Staffing -Retained Search Practice Are you a strong team player with a passion to learn the emerging market biotechnology space? As a result of the robust Biotech market, our client, a leader in Executive Search, is launching a retained Life Sciences practice. As a key member of the team you will drive client development, networking and engaging with the professional community.
The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial adventure seeker who is an independent thinker, planner and finishes each race. A self-starter who thrives in a start-up and is decisive in a risk promoting environment. This person learns from challenges and makes playbook changes to adjust to an ever-changing market and industry. To be involved in new drug development, is to be out in front of change. The successful candidate often educates client and professionals as to facilitate the healthiest of business relationships. We do not sell, we set appointments, advise, then close. You will always communicate important messaging, introductions and negotiations by phone or face to face versus electronic messaging. You smile over the phone to endear the hearer to encourage meeting all the clients that you will work with face to face. Research and build a strong database of targeted potential clients through the various methodologies, i.e. phone, e-mail, Linked In and other social media platforms. Outgoing phone and face to face meetings (travel as needed, mostly local) during screening process. Assist in decision as to panel presentation of candidates with Practice Leader and Director of Search. Build long term, trusting and functional relationships with clinical development clients. You will be a close business advisor to the best of the best biotechnology companies and executives. You will become well known in venture capital circles who have biotech holdings. Build and utilize a working social and face to face network of clinical development client contacts whose work lives and programs you will impact for many years to come. In many cases, the service and integrity with which you conduct your affairs, will lead to many of your clients becoming candidates. As your clients will change companies within the cycle, you will service their business in multiple companies over a career. Work directly with Direct of Search and Practice Leader to examine new markets for both client opportunities. Arrange and conduct client sales and intake meetings and provide input for position descriptions and client organizational observations including culture and executive proclivities including direct report of the role. Assist and drive client reporting Screen candidates (live, Skype or local travel) that come through candidate development to determine skill and cultural fit for your client. Participate in building candidate profiles and attend and manage and lead candidate presentations to clients. Analyze current market plan and make recommendations for improvements, including addition of client targets, deletions, and work in anticipating market trends, etc. Work with marketing department on brand and position enhancement. Review current marketing materials against competitors including trade and professional organizations and events, handouts and sponsorships. Collect, compile, debrief with event staff and report on event in terms of return on investment. Research and report on social networking (Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In, blogs etc. To position company for market facing opportunities associated with the life sciences audience. Research, identify and report on human capital and emerging market biotechnology associations, life science professional and educational associations and events nationwide. Attention to detail for reporting and research of current US markets. Use our Bullhorn database information to drive and increase number of client and candidate contacts. The successful candidate believes that every client and candidate should get Ritz Carlton quality service but can walk away from the wrong business. Bachelor’ s Degree and or 5 years of proven direct recruitment and building a book of business. History of revenue enhancement. Solid writing skills. Collaborate with sister company, clinical development contracting/consulting. Geography: Within driving distance to Wellesley, MA headquarters
