Summary: Plans, evaluates, develops and improves manufacturing methods, systems and processes. Provides guidance in manufacturing related engineering tasks, work with machine processes and tooling design. May conduct basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of materials and equipment to aerospace manufacturing. Essential functions: Design and improve manufacturing systems and processes to reduce cost and inefficiencies through a systematic process of Plan/Do/Check/Act and various other proven improvement tools. May apply/utilize statistical methods to estimate manufacturing processes. Coordinate analysis, process project requests, proposals and engineering data to determine feasibility, productibility cost and production time of products. Develop, evaluate and/or modify design of aerospace products to meet customer requirements, including testing methods, production standards and completion dates. Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and reliability objectives of finished product. Provide engineering support in production to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. May troubleshoot processes and work with development of new and/or changing processes or programs. Evaluate product data and design from inspections and reports for conformance to engineering principles. Plan and oversee/outsource experimental, environmental, operational and stress tests on models and prototypes of aerospace products. Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action and control. Formulate sampling procedures and designs and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data. Plan and/or coordinate activities concerned with investigating and resolving reports of technical problems. Make use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches. Demonstrate ability to appear for work on time, work overtime when necessary, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, work safely, comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.
